In an Oval Office meeting today, the President and leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) � U.S. Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey, U.S. Representative Nydia Velazquez of New York, and U.S. Representative Luis Gutierrez of Illinois � discussed the options on immigration reform immediately facing the Congress. He thanked them for their constant efforts on this issue. The President and the CHC leaders believe that, before adjourning, Congress should approve the DREAM Act. This legislation has traditionally enjoyed support from Democratic and Republican lawmakers and would give young people who were brought as minors to the United States by their parents the opportunity to earn their citizenship by pursuing a college degree or through military service.The President reiterated his support for fixing the broken immigration system and urged the CHC leaders to work to restore the bipartisan coalition backing comprehensive immigration reform. The President repeated his hope that, with the election season�s pressures past, Congressional Republicans would work with their Democratic colleagues not only to strengthen security at the nation�s borders, but also to restore responsibility and accountability to what everyone agrees is a broken immigration system. So it means I can apply in August as I am qualified to apply in July. How about my PD? Will it be August since I applied in August? For schedule A, the PD is the I-140 receipt date.

Hi all,
One of my relatives who has been here in United States for last 10 years keep on telling me that there is a co-relation between Expedition of Green Card process and election year.
I am planning to switch my job as I am having a great offer, but he kept on telling me that in the past, he has noticed great expedition of green card process during the election years. He advises me against switching the job at this point. My PD is Jan 2005.
Please let me know, if any of you agree with him.
Tell him that this is NOT India or any other country where they can do 10 things to get votes. I heard this from one guy who is on EAD and thinks something will happen in the election year. purely ludacris..

hi i have a question here:
suppose some x's labour PD date is 2004 August and some Y's PD date is 2006.
Y Applied I-485 on July2nd 2007 and X applied on Aug10th 2007.
so whose application processed first? is x's or Y's for final GC process.

As far as i know...if x's and y's PD's are current at some given time..then Y's file will be processed first because his RD is earlier and then X's file..its toatlly depends on PD (whose PD is current)..this is what i know..i may be worng..

In one of my friend's case they approved H1 for 6 months, because he had contract only for 6 months. He just completed 3 years and this is his first extension request. :eek: Who the hell in this world writes contract for more than 6 months even if they have requirements for next 2 years.
Another case I heard was immigration officer at POE granted only 1 year I-94 even though he had 2 years left in his visa. It seems IO spoke to candidates manager and advised him to hire someone locally and get him trained within a year.
Are we in real United States of America? So much of hate around.

My H1 is approved on Oct 23, 2006. I was on F1. Before my OPT grace period expired on July 20, 2006, I enrolled in a school with new I-20 on July 5th, 2006. I have been taking one class every month for last three months to maintain full time status. If I stop taking classes now, would it be a some kind of problem when I go for visa stamping?

Hi,
Is it legal to come here and work while waiting for an L1 visa. This person(not myself) arrived on an I-94 Visa waiver with full knowledge, worked during that week while waiting for their L1A non-immigrant application to be approved(week later). Please advise. What are the ramifications of this once its passed or immigration finds out?

My wife's RFE was because they saw she used FNU as her 1st name. They wanted to know if she wanted to keep the same FNU name for GC or not.

Yes, your priority date shud be current when u plan to add ur spouse, otherwise they wont accept the 485 application

C'mon, the clue is in your RFE. It's from day of entry (this means last entry) to the filing of I-485. Previous entries do not matter for I-485.
Was her I-94 still valid at the time she filed I-485? If yes, then you should be ok.
Day of first entry not the day of last entry.
But you have gave me a valid point.
I am working with an attorney and would let you know the progress. It might be helpful for at least few.
