What I mentioned above applies to new H1 filing. The person can start working as soon as H1 is approved which can be as quickly as 15 days or less if done under Premium Processing.
People who have been counted against the quota in the last 6 years are exempt from it and can apply for new H1 with different employer without being subjected to the quota again.

Also, you can apply for passport renewal, one year bfr the current one expires ... so u can do it right away ...

I like the DOF. I agree that the shadows are a bit hard. The flash may be a little bright, but the hardness is a result of a small light source.

My wife is scheduled to appear for fingerprinting at 1 om a future scheduled date. However I learned from someone that she can go for the fingerprinting even earlier in the day and she will be fine. Is this true? Has anyone experienced this?
I have tried this when i went for my finger printing for my EAD. My interview was in afternoon and went around 8:30am and they did allow me.

I have my labor cleared and 140 applied in 2007. Later in 2007 I had filed for 485 based on the pending 140 application and received EAD as well. But the 140 was denied later due to ineligibility to file on EB2 and a new one I140 was applied in EB2 refering the pending 485 application and the same old labor. This I140 has been pending since last few years and my attorney only received a letter stating it is under review, when a SR was raised. Meanwhile I have received EAD and AP extensions properly based on the pending 485.
I would like to apply 140 again from a different company using the old labor and refering the pending 485 application sine i am currently on EAD using the pending 485 application.
Questions
1. Can i do that?
2. If so, what documents would i need from my company to process this.

I moved to a new company and yet to receive my I-797 approved from INS. My old company visa is valid till May 2010. If they have not revoked it can i still travel out of country and come back?

It all depends on their background check and security requirements.
As a non-US citizen your EAD has the same worth as a H1B for these jobs. Same is the case for LPR's for US Federal jobs with various security clearance checks (where only US Citizens can apply).

It is true that immigration is not at all reason for unemployment. When unemployment increases that will decrease immigration to some extent. We could see that in h1b numbers and also illegal immigration. But future immigration will depend on how fast jobs are created when recovery starts.

On another note, is it true that people are getting RFEs when they do address change? Has anyone faced this?
What I have heard is that if your new address is 200+ miles away from the old address, you are most certainly going to get a EVL RFE. One of my friends' recently changed his address within the same city and never got RFE.

Can I renew H1-B (12th year) after filed 485. Don�t want to use EAD in order to maintain my wife�s H4.
The AC21 document covers before I-485 filing stage. But not covering after 485 filed and retrogressed situation.

(4) Exemptions to Limitations of Stay. The limitation on the total period of stay does not apply to H-1B aliens when, as of the date of filing the extension request:
365 or more days have passed since the filing of any application for labor certification, Forms ETA-750 or ETA-9089, that is required or used by the alien to obtain status as an EB immigrant; and the labor certification, if approved, has not been revoked, is unexpired or has been timely filed with an EB petition within the labor certification�s validity period; or
365 or more days have passed since the filing of an EB immigrant petition that is still pending; or
The alien is the beneficiary of an approved EB immigration petition and is not able to file to adjust status to U.S. permanent legal residence based on the unavailability of an immigrant visa number.
