yep EAD is linked to your 485 application and not your employer. especially after 180 days of 485 filing a lot people consider themselves free to jump the boat with very little to no issues.

Hi-
I am applying for my EAD/AP renewal. The received date on my I-485 notice is Aug 2007. According to USCIS, if you filed after July 30 2007, you are not required to include a Fee.
I am looking at my receipt notices and I feel like I payed under the old fee structure and should include the fee. Here are the amounts
I-485 : $395.00
I-765 : $180.00
I-131: $170.00
Can someone please advice if I need to include the fee for AP and EAD renewal.

Two little-known types of immigrant visas are the T and the U visas. The T visa is for people innocently involved in human trafficking, and the U visa is for victims of crime. The U visa's basic purpose is to make it easier for police to prosecute those who commit violence.

The issuing of U visas comes at a tense time in the national immigration debate, amid a polarizing crackdown and potentially broader policing powers against immigrants in Arizona. I anticipate an inevitable situation arising out regarding my parents' health, that would require us to move back to India sometime in 2007. My EB2 NIW PD is Dec 2004. Does somebody out there with knowledge about issues and procedures connected with transferring from AOS application to Consular processing in India?

Hi!
I was wondering what are the benefits of EAD to primary(H1B) applicant before 180 days, i understand that AC21 & it's benefits can be invoked after 180 days from receipt date.
But is there any benefit of having EAD if 180 days from 485 receipt date are not over ?
You can take a 2nd additional job if needed..
Not much benefit if your current job is well paying and going well... Even though I applied for EAD, I am not planning to use it.. But just in case.. You never know WWW in US...
And when you invoke AC21.. You must have EAD in hand...

I am kind of in the same situation...But, I don't know if the status means what it says.
But, I got the status change in Jul 2008 saying that
'the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I-485 application to register permanent residence or to adjust status as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case....'
The very next day I got this case status change saying that..
'We mailed document to the address we have on file, You should receive the new document within 30 days.....'
I took an InfoPass appointment and explained to them the case status emails. I also told them that I didn't get my biometrics notice. They asked me if priority date is current..I said NO and they verified too. So, they took the "document mailed" as the biometrics notice document and took my biometrics. I never bothered about that since then....
But, with new system change it shows as 'Document Processing & Oath ceremony'. So I am not sure what the original case status changes emails were about...and take the status 'Document processing and Oath ceremony' seriously.

If calling the national customer service center is of no help then I am not sure what else you can do, other than being there on Friday.
When I googled for the location, I found two different webpages. Surprisingly, 'Application Support Center (ASC)' seems to be open on Fridays (first link) but the 'local office' is closed. ASC is in room 154 in the same building it seems. Go figure !

I know this is irrelevant in a way but see it from a different angle for one moment. There is no other forum where you can get any information about these H1 employers who are playing games using retrogression. This is the only forum where most of the people on H1 are related to some desi consulting company and can share their experiences which would help other people who are in huge pain due to the unfair practices of their existing employers.
I would recommend the administrators to create a separate area on this forum where people can share these experiences and find genuine employers.

H1, H4 (spouse) and H4 (kid) living happily.
File 485 and gets EAD/AP.
H1 doesn't use EAD.
H4 uses EAD and hence looses H4 status.
I-485 is denied.
Now, my understanding is that spouse has to go out of country and come back again on H4.
What about the kid?
When does the kid loose his/her H4 status? (When both mother and father use EAD)?
As long as primary stays in H status any derivative who does not change his H4 status will stay in H4 status. the only way a H4 can loose H4 status if he/she uses EAD. In your case if i have understood it correctly ur Kid will never use EAD and if you never used EAD ur H1 status is active thus ur kids H4 is active .. also i think ur wife can change her status back to H4 but would require her to file some paperwork .. she might need to geta visa stamp when she tries to re-enter into us..

USCIS will consider only your qualifications and experience only at the time of applying for labor against the jobs requirements. You dont have to update USCIS with your latest qualifications.

I am working under CPT from a university. I am not planning to continue school if i get h1b. My last day to register for classes is Oct 10th. My h1b case in USCIS website days it is received and pending. I filed for premium processing on Sept 23rd, application reached to USCIS on 24th. It will be 15 calender days on Oct 9th. In this case can i work without registering at school after OCT 10th?
I will really appreciate any suggestions.
